Stirlitz.

When the ground quivered, and huge crater appeared after the explosion of dictator’s African den, Stirlitz didn’t even look around. Of course, he studied in spy school that evil likes to pretend dead and arise again, that even when you throw it to the caldron with molten metal it can jump out of there, and then you’ll have to kill it with gunstock. Blowing up African bunker of Umput, Stirlitz made sure that his enemy is dead – as dead as dictator can be dead after the three check shots from bazooka.

He didn’t see how the huge shadow of flying object covered the place of explosion, a few hours later; and hundreds of flying creatures flew down from their hatches. He didn’t see how the strange machines with many legs and creatures operating them, dug into the ground of crater left after the explosion, scattering sand mixed with pieces of concrete.

Stirlitz was going to his hydroplane at the seaside. He dreamt of far beaches, of beautiful women and of martini in wept glasses.

In a few days, in the secret underwater base in the Barents Sea, he was told everything.
He got to know that unknown creatures, after the long search, extracted Umput’s remains and delivered it to their flying base, and that this object named «Flying City» for it’s size, flew to a Southern pole, where radars have lost it. There at the pole, according to the reconnaissance, were the most modern and secret laboratory of died dictator.

Or, may be, alive one?

This question harassed Stirlitz while he tried his new battle space-suit and adjusted top secret model of spy gun in the strategic bomber flying to the pole. Space-suit was equipped not only armor and life support system, but jet engine, as now Stirlitz had to land to eternal ice zone from stratosphere. His gun had built-in watch, lighter, compass, gyroscope and other stuff he wasn’t even going to use.

There were thousands of kilometers of ice desert with rare penguins under the plane. According to the aerial photography, Sky City soared above the ice mountains at the height of one kilometer. Setting down to it from the air was too dangerous, so Stirlitz decided to approach to it from land. Mountains were full of strange creatures busy with their strange activity, but it was his usual job to deal with such enemies.

Well, may be the job was a little bit unusual, this time…

Many hours later, standing in fritted, gnawed and acid stained space-suit on the top of ice mountain, and admiring the view of colossal crater with fragments of Sky City, Stirlitz remembered how naive he was.

There was nothing simple or usual in this mission. From the very beginning, when jet engines of the space-suits melted cavities in the ice and Stirlitz get from the holster his new, unusual gun – everything went wrong. The first things he saw in Arctic were gunpoints of auto guns, moved from snow-covered boxes.

Snow and ice in these mountains under the Sky City were keeping many secrets and surprises – jumping mines hiding under the snow and unexpectedly jumping towards their target; fortified zones, armed with automatic quick-firers; flying platforms working according to unknown for modern science principal; and of course inhabitants of these mountains – mutants in armored suits, similar as two drops of water.


At first, when Stirlitz met mutants he thought they are humans in strange space-like armor, but later he understood that visors hide muzzles, but not faces, and these muzzles have something common with Umput’s face. Mutants were smart enough to shoot from guns and autofirers, but not more – some of them had laser armament, seen by Stirlitz only in the pictures of fantastic books.

Recollections of recent hours events were bright and clear flashes for Stirlitz, flashes very harmonizing with aurora above his head.

Here he ups to the top of the mountain on the flying platform, and he understands that Umput is alive – but this is impossible. There, on the top pulsates and rotates unknown energy formation – teleport, that’s how they transport their goods and soldiers, - explains intercom connected with Headquarters.

Teleport is passed, Stirlitz fights through technical tunnels of Sky City. In one of the weaponry rooms he found laser module fitting to his gun and cuts all attacking mutants. Then, he forces his helmet through hatch and crawl through tortuous branches of ventilating shafts.

Umput is alive! He talks to Stirlitz from loud speakers on the walls of laboratories, and Headquarters agrees – somehow, dictator is alive. But how? Laboratories are full of high-tech equipment for genetic experiments and test, cruelly tortured creatures, fast skull trepanation devices try to jump to Stirlitz’s head. What they work at here?

Stirlitz for the first time sees the place where mutants born – that is green huge retorts, there they grow with armor and in the exit they are equipped with weapon. He fights through the crowds of mutants using new weapon – devastator, picked up in one of the laboratories, that is a hybrid of super quick shot-gun and bazooka.

He walks on the bodies of mutants to something they secure in the center of laboratory complex and sees… he doesn’t understand what he sees, while Headquarters explains everything.
Umput! In front of him, on the platform, defended by twinkling force fields and supported by servo-motors, in transparent retort floats something that scientists from Headquarters identify as Umput’s brain! Survived, recovered and linked to the computer network. Stirlitz tugs breech-mechanism of devastator and runs to him…

Further recollections convolve into the tight knot and fly away with electrical sparks…

He falls on the broken platform from Sky City and he knows – Umput is not beaten once and for all, mission must go on…

Red haired woman in shining armor shooting from heavy laser – he shoulder his devastator and she explodes with fountain of metal fragments… and in the darkness of corridor there’s another red haired woman similar to previous…

Multihanded caterpillar robots, looking like something common between lunar excursion module and astronaut, tracing him in the dark workshops of Sky City…

Energy gun in his hands, blue lightnings, killing the robots…

Rare moments of respite, used to inject stimulator or according to Headquarters orders to disassemble or assemble one of the weapon types…

Short instructions in the intercom: «Stop robots production in Sky City… destroy Sky City…» and long hiss of statics, and red inscriptions on the screens: Iferno prototype initialisation complete…

Low mechanic woman’s laugh…

Stirlits shook his heavy, as after the sleep, head. Fragments of Sky City were still steamed and aurora slowly arose above the landscape. Every minute help and evacuation could come, cargo planes and flying hospitals, but Stirlitz was disturbed by the question caused by his professional spy jealousy. Is it all really finished?

So, to accomplish the operation «Umputation» Stirlitz will have to:

• Use new top secret, battle space-suit with jet engine;

• Fight with unknown and dangerous enemies – zombie-mutants, military robots and secret Umput’s woman ally;

• Cope with new ultra modern weaponry – shotgun, hand laser and energy gun – each of them has two modes of firing;

• Improve his weapon and armor between levels;

• Chase his opponent during 15 levels, in the Arctic, air laboratories and mysterious Sky City.
